This role is principally accountable for managing and achieving both short and long-term procurement plans/activities and ultimately growing profitability of the division through proactive management of the Procurement function. Key responsibilities lie within the core functions of the value chain and primarily include: - Identification and implementation of processes to increase efficiencies related to: supply chain management and purchasing inventory, packaging supplies, and ancillary materials. This role plays an integral part in establishing and managing long term agreements with key suppliers, ensuring lowest costs material. The Inventory Control Manager will manage existing and develop policies/guidelines that are to be adhered to by buying team to ensure the most efficient and low cost purchasing. Additionally, this role will lead a team of buying agents and leverage data and analytics to affect process compliance, quality KPI performance, and shrink control.
Director of Operations
Responsible for leading the Inventory Control staff and activities
Develops and implements strategy to continually improve customer order turnaround time and initial order fill rates.
- Develops and implements strategy for continuous improvement of Inventory Efficiency and Days Sales On Hand metrics.
Oversees processes to ensure vendor Purchase Orders are accurate and timely
Responsible for forecasting and inventory management of all books categories
Manage daily inventory audit process for compliance with emphasis on reducing operational expenses.
Use historical data, forecasting tools, & sales performance to determine purchasing opportunities per category
Responsible for meeting inventory turnover and availability goals
Negotiate discounts with publishers and manage renewals of meet the competition terms in order to maintain and maximize, when possible, gross profit percentage.
Trains and evaluates employee performance; initiates hiring, promotions, transfers or disciplinary actions.
Liaise between staff and senior management to ensure organizational goals and objectives are effectively communicated and met.
Correctly interprets and enforces company policies and safety procedures to ensure compliance.

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3-5 years inventory control experience required.
- 2-4 years of supervisory and/or management experience required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Solid organizational and planning skills.
