The Marketing Director holds ultimate responsibility for the oversight and direction of the Marketing Team. This role leads marketing research, activities and steers the development of a fully integrated marketing strategy for the business ensuring that all marketing activities align with key company strategic initiatives. Additionally, this role will analyze target market information to identify and drive effective marketing approaches that impact the business.

Your Contribution to the Team includes

  • Develop the brand strategy and oversee programs to differentiate and position Booksource as the market leader
  • Develop customer personas and a true customer journey and acquire buy-in across the business
  • Lead the big picture strategy for Marketing: regional and national campaigns, targeted marketing efforts to school districts and specific user roles, CRM workflows and automations, digital/print advertising, sales enablement, social media, and company events
  • Analyze target market data to identify and recommend effective marketing approaches
  • Build and maintain infrastructure/systems to routinely measure results of all major campaigns, regularly communicate results with appropriate stakeholders and recommend change of course as necessary
  • Steer an influencer marketing strategy that builds awareness and ultimately drives sales
  • Identify and develop the Go To Market Strategy for New Products
  • Evaluate and develop a strategy for updating the Booksource website to support digital marketing efforts and generate sales
  • Ensure alignment, collaboration, and support from company stakeholders: Executive Team, Sales, Products, IT, etc.
  • Direct programs to establish and expand Booksource reputation and recognition
  • Provide strategy, leadership, and mentorship to the Marketing Team
  • Understands prospect and customer needs, the competitive landscape and stays up to date on new trends within the education market
  • Forecast, monitor, and oversee costs and marketing operating budget


What You’ll Need to be Successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in marketing, journalism, or PR
  • Proven work in a senior role such as Marketing Director, VP of Marketing or similar
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in a strategic marketing role, with at least 3 years working on integrated marketing campaigns.  Traditional marketing, digital a plus.
  • Experience in marketing automation (HubSpot, Pardot, Marketo)
  • Experience managing, developing, and leading a team
  • Proven ability to manage budgets
  • Strong and impactful communication skills with the ability to articulate and influence
  • Ability to garner consensus from a large team to obtain stakeholder agreement on new, complex, or challenging ideas. Emphasis on internal sales relationships
  • Sound technical and analytical skills with a strong focus on sales
  • Experience measuring, analyzing, and presenting campaign and program performance against established business objectives
  • Excellent people skills, with a successful history of building and sustaining productive professional relationships
