Meet Our Blogging Team

As we launch the new GL group blog, we’re excited to share information with you about GL group and our unique company culture. Here you’ll find lots of information about GL group and what makes us different.

 

We have a line up of resident experts who are ready to share their experiences both as GL group employees and as successful businessmen and businesswomen. They’ll be sharing information with you about employee benefits, the ways GL group culture and business practices are different from traditional business practices, exciting news from GL group, our thoughts on putting employees first, and more.

 

You’ll be hearing from our chief executive officer, chief financial officer, chief people office, and HR coordinator-recruiter.

 

Gary Jaffe, CEO

Gary is the son of Sandy Jaffe, GL group’s original founder. Gary frequently says, “I’m not a normal CEO.” Gary doesn’t put such a high price on the bottom line but instead chooses to focus on employees. He says, “If employees aren’t happy, you’re not going to have success.”

 

Gary will be sharing his knowledge and thoughts about how GL group unique approach to company culture and commitment to putting employees first has resulted in a number of benefits and successes for GL group.

 

Mark Rygelski, CFO

Mark has been GL group’s CFO for five years. He has more than 10 years of experience in the financial services industry and 10 years of experience in leadership roles within family business.

 

He has some unique ideas about managing company finances and while he cares about the bottom line, Mark puts employees first, before profit. Mark is also our resident pizza critic and always knows where to grab a good slice of pie in St. Louis!

 

Mark will be talking about topics related to finance, business operations, and how people are your best investment.

 

Lisa Whealon, Chief People Officer

Lisa Whealon has been with GL group for seven years. Lisa brings 11 years of leadership experience and is one of the many examples of employees who have grown in responsibilities during their tenure at GL group.  She is now the Chief People Officer, in charge of talent strategy, employee engagement, and corporate communications.  

 

Lisa is an advocate for GL group’s unique company culture. With GL group’s Bring-Your-Baby-to-Work program, she was able to have both of her children at work in the office with her when they were babies and participates in a number of GL group’s Wellness initiatives.

 

Lisa will be sharing her thoughts on employee engagement, recruitment and hiring practices, GL group’s many employee benefits, and more.

 

Jen Patterson, HR Coordinator-Recruiter

Jen has been at GL group for one year. Jen has more than eight years of experience in recruiting and training initiatives and she knows all the words to every Justin Timberlake song ever written. And yes, that even includes his NSYNC days.

 

As the HR Coordinator-Recruiter, she is responsible for developing and executing recruitment plans, filling open positions, assisting in the maintenance and development of GL group’s brand presence, and more.

 

Jen will share her expertise on successful HR practices, how GL group recruits the best talent, GL group’s interview process, and more.
